Fasting From Negative Emotions
Today’s Fast: Today We Are Fasting from the emotion of… Resentment
Ask yourself this question: “When was the last time I truly felt full of and filled with happiness, inspiration, self-esteem and gratitude?” If you can’t remember the last time you felt good about yourself and full of these qualities, then perhaps just may be you might be holding on to resentment.
Resentment can be defined as a deep-seated hostility and bitter indignation. A Feeling of ill-will towards someone.
The Scripture That We Will Use is Ephesians Chapter 4: Verse 31
Sometimes resentment lasts for years. It can be strong and hard to pull out, like an old, gnarled tree root. While resentment over being wronged can come from just one incident either perceived or real, if it goes undealt with just like cancer it gets stronger over Time. Resentment has to be rooted out early.
tells us this …“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.”
This scripture tells us to put away all bitterness, wrath, anger and clamor and slander. So, this lets us know that in order to be free from the toxic effects of bitterness and resentment it has to be put away – meaning we have to be intentional about not holding on to it. Letting go of resentment is not based on your feelings but rather a decision to choose to put it away. Are you willing to start putting away resentment?
The litmus test of spiritual maturity is knowing when to put something away, because there are some things that you can pray away but then there are those things that you are going to have to be mature enough to choose to put away for your own wellbeing, growth and emotional freedom. The Apostle Paul said it this way in 1 Corinthians 13: 11 ..”When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
So today put away childish things by choosing to GIVE UP RESENTMENT.
