Fasting From Negative People
Today’s Fast: Today We Are Fasting from people who are … Hot Tempered and Easily Angered
For the last 10 days of our Soul Fast we will be fasting from negative people. Fasting from a negative person involves taking a step back from the relationship emotionally in order to clearly assess how much contact you want to have with this individual. And, if you must be in contact with him or her, then how to best interact with the individual. Many believers tolerate toxic behavior from people who they know do not have their best interests in mind because they tend to confuse the notion of praying for your enemies with tolerating abuse from your enemies.
God does not require us to tolerate perpetual disrespect and abusive behavior. You can and should pray for everyone; including people who behave like an enemy towards you. However, praying for an enemy does not require you to give your enemies access to your heart. It is your responsibility to guard your own heart and sometimes this means loving certain people from a clear distance, by putting strong boundaries in place.
With that being said, let's get started on today's task.
Here's a question for you: Do you know anyone who is hot-tempered and easily angered? Are you hot tempered and easily-angered? If the answer is yes to one or both questions then give some thought to how being around someone who is hot-tempered can affect you and if you are hot-tempered give some thought to how your temper affects the people around you.
Today, take a step back and assess your relationships with people who are quarrelsome and stir up strife, so that you can evaluate whether or not you should come out from among them. *****And if you are in a position where you are not yet able to come out from among them physically, then come out from among them spiritually and psychologically by creating some emotional distance and making sure you put on the whole armor of God before dealing with them.
If you are hot-tempered and easily angered, ask God to search your heart and renew a right spirit in you so that you can get a handle on your anger.
Today Is A New Day
