Have You Ever Considered Giving Up Negativity For Lent?

Updated: Feb 24, 2022

Lent will be here sooner than you know it. This year Lent begins on March 2, 2022.

Lent is all about meditating upon and learning more and more about what Jesus sacrificed for mankind. So giving something up for Lent isn't about trying to take something away from you. Giving up something for Lent is all about becoming intentional about receiving more and more of God's revelation, power, & breakthroughs through the intentional of decreasing in self in order to increase in God and shift into the spiritual space of "Thy Will Be Done." Lent is also about going deeper in your spiritual walk through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Many people mark Lent by “giving up” an unhealthy habit or distracting practice. During the days of Lent leading up to Easter/Resurrection Sunday, Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect, release and restore, tune-in to our Kingdom calling, and renew our commitment to living from the kingdom within. So why fast during Lent? Why give up something? Simple: for our own spiritual growth so that we can have greater self-mastery over the flesh. The truth is, for most of us, our lives are filled with things which satisfy the flesh, that lift our mood in the short-term, and provide pleasure, entertainment and distractions but that often make us more and more disconnected from God, our authentic power and each other. But, when we choose to give up something that we believe we cannot live without, it moves us away from constant consumerism, self-absortion and living from the realm of overwhelm to become more God-centered, people-connected and our ability to live from the kingdom within. With this in mind, why not focus your Lenten fast on giving up mindsets, attitudes, outlooks and beliefs that are counterproductive to the wellbeing of your soul by going on a Soul Fast?

How is a Soul Fast different from an edible food fast? Unlike a fast from edible food or from a physical habit like watching tv or cigarette smoking; a Soul Fast is a master cleanse for your heart and mind. When you're on a Soul Fast you are fasting from unhealthy mindsets, outlooks, attitudes, beliefs and choices that are counterproductive to the wellbeing of your soul such as: self-doubt, inadequacy, worry, bitterness, despair, envy, revenge and fear.

The reason why it's so vital to fast from negative thinking is because when we chew and stew on negative thoughts and emotions, we are actually feeding on psychological toxins that steal our peace of mind, eat away at our joy and stunt our personal growth. Over time, this negative energy that's living on the inside of us spills over into our happiness, health, productivity, relationships and it moves us away from living our most authentic and purpose-driven life.

That's why Cassandra Mack Ministries will be going on a corporate Soul Fast as a community, where we will be working from my book, THE SOUL FAST WORKBOOK and taking out 40 days to detox from negativity. Much Love,
