Tips for Days 1 - 10 of The 40-Day Soul Fast Where We Are Giving Up Negativity for LENT

Welcome To Day 1 of our 40-Day Soul Fast. On days 1 through 10 of this fast you will be taking 10 days to fast from toxic thinking, while working from The Soul Fast Workbook.

During this time pay close attention to the kinds of thoughts that you tend to think about a lot, ruminate over and dwell on, so that you can become more aware of how your thought life is affecting your focus, progress, happiness and wellbeing. This way, you can begin to take your thoughts captive and reject the negative ones that come into your mind to pull you in the direction of negativity, or to make you mentally re-live a past event that you put behind you, to prick at old wounds that are in the process of healing and that try to exalt themselves against what you know to be true about God’s word (The Bible) and your identity as a child of God (Who the Bible says you are).

The thing about our thought life is without even thinking about it, we talk to ourselves all day every day, And for most of us, this self-talk is negative and discouraging. What’s more is this internal conversation that runs rampant through our mind eventually becomes part of our core belief system, which frames our outlook, identity, conduct and habits. If our outlook is self-defeating, then everything that flows out of this outlook will be rooted in self-defeat and inadequacy. This is why we need to affirm our authentic identity by reminding ourselves that we were Fearfully and Wonderfully made. In fact, before you were fully formed, when you were just a blip on the pediatrician’s sonogram screen, you were magnificence in motion and God knew you by name. This is why the bible reminds us in Jeremiah 1:5 of this very important piece of information…. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." We were all created in magnificence and brilliance.

So, if you were created in magnificence and brilliance then it

goes without saying that you already have greatness inside of you …all you have to do is nurture your seeds of greatness by shifting the way you think and see yourself and by aligning your beliefs with the word of God. In section 1 of The Soul Fast Workbook you will take your thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and renew your mind (Romans 12:2) on the daily worksheets/journaling pages of the book. This will create a paradigm shift in the way you think and feel. As a result it will revolutionize your mindset.

If you are not sure how to start identifying negative thoughts that you need to fast/detox from; I have provided you with two examples in this post to help you get the ball rolling as it relates to identifying the negative thoughts you need to fast from so that you can cultivate a more fruitful thought life.

Here Are Two Examples of Negative Mindsets & Beliefs You May Want To Fast From During This Soul Fast If You Find that You Struggle With any of The Following Beliefs:

1. Fast From The Thought That Says…

My best days are behind me.

  • Reject This Thought: I reject the thought that my best days are behind me

  • Replace It With The Thought That Says …I choose to believe that God has plans to prosper me and give me hope and a future. I choose to become hopeful about my future.

  • Renew Your Mind By Receiving The Truth of God’s Word ....Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

2. Fast From The Thought That Says…

Nobody cares about me.

  • Reject This Thought: I reject the thought that nobody cares about me

  • Replace It With The Thought That Says… I choose to believe that God cares about me deeply. I choose to believe that God loves me. I choose to believe that God loves me so much that He proved it by sending His son Jesus Christ to die for me so that I may have life abundantly through him.

  • Renew Your Mind By Receiving The Truth of God’s Word ... 1 John 4: 9 “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”

Remember you can change the trajectory of your life by changing the way you think and you can level up your life by leveling up your mindset.

Much Love,

Cassandra Mack
